Section of Crazy and Sane
This class is a technique, lecture and design class. It offers you a wealth of options. You will be encouraged you to try a block or two of each design presented using fabrics from your stash. I sincerely hope you find a few designs you prefer and would want to complete in a larger size.
Six different designs (lap quilt size) will be presented. Since the main portion of each block is crazy pieced. This section should be completed using your stash fabrics. Yardage requirements will be given for the SETTING pieces (squares, strips). The yardage needed for these setting fabrics will be minimal.
This class has MANY diagrams for settings plus the diagrams for the six designs. Be sure your printer is in working order! I have tried to keep the diagrams in an easy-to-print format.
In addition to raiding your stash you will want to have:
- rotary cutter and matt
- scissors
- thread snips
- pins
- long (6'X24") acrylic ruler with 60° and 45° lines on it
- acrylic square (12" is minimal, 16" square is better) for squaring up
- sewing machine
- neutral thread
- iron
- light starch in a spritz bottle (I use Sta-Flo Concentrated Liquid Starch, available at Wal-Mart. It is inexpensive and can be diluted half and half and lasts for months)
- Pellon featherweight sew in interfacing. This is my personal favorite for the foundation layer to piece on.
One completed Crazy and Sane Quilt
Crazy Pieced Triangles Sampler. This is a simple way to combine crazy pieced triangles with squares and half square triangles in traditional blocks.
