Quilts warm our bodies and our spirits and nothing is better than the quilts made with love in your own family.  In this exhibit, students share their family quilts and the stories that go with them.

This is a doll quilt made for my mother by her grandmother, Clara Deem in Blufton, Indiana.  Please excuse the wrinkles, but since my mother Margaret is 81 years old, I don’t want to iron or wash this piece.  It has no binding, and appears to be a 9-patch with sashing.  I also used it for my dolls.
I have no other quilts made by her, but I do have a quilt made from fabric she cut out for a quilt from clothing scraps.  --  Liz Spannraft from Illinois

My father in law died in 2007.  While I was helping my sisters-in-law clean out their dad's old clothes, we came across his ties.  I asked for them, planning on doing something with them for my husband and his sisters.  It took a while to settle on a pattern, but since 2008, every Christmas, one of his sisters gets a tie quilt made with their dad's old ties. --  Cathy Skelton, Holt, Michigan

I made this quilt after the birth of my first grandchild, Lily.  It's an original design that was made using a photo transfer for the center of the flower.  --  Jane Herlihy, Oakland, CA
