Manierre Dawson - The Struggle 1912
Fascinating, isn't it? Up close, this looks like nothing
but random shapes. Viewed from across the room, you see
there is a battle going on between two people. This is
largely made possible by the use of value and contrast.
I'm just saying....

Maggie by Edmund Minor Archer
She called my name from across the room. I kept trying to
concentrate on other paintings
but she was like a magnet drawing me into her corner. You
can practically hear her talking.
"You can put me in this uniform and make me stand still to get
my picture painted, but I don't have to like it. Not one
little bit."

Old Church, Carversville by Daniel Garber 1916
This is considered a revival of Impressionism.

I didn't get the artist's name but I had to share this anyway.
Something about rainy day pictures gets to me every time.
It should feel sad and yet, to me, it does not.

This was in a collection of small bronze works. It
reminded me of the pieces
you see of Norman Rockwell's people, as if life had been
captured and could continue on
if you just looked away.

Too many pictures, not enough notes taken. I think this
came from the South American exhibit. The sides are some
kind of straw, grass or bulrush. The patterns are
timeless.

And last, a reminder to look everywhere. This mobile was
hanging from the ceiling in one of the hallways.
