In the PJ7 directory, find the project file that you want to delete. Click to select it, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
You can restore a deleted project file if it is still in your Recycle Bin. Click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop. Right click > Open > click the project file in the Recycle Bin > Restore.

You can drag and drop designs and fabrics on the Quilt worktable in EQ7. Designs are blocks, appliqué, stencils, photos and embroidery. To set designs on a quilt layer using the drag and drop method, click the appropriate Set tool: Set Block, Set Photo or Set Embroidery. Select a design in the Sketchbook Blocks palette on the Quilt worktable and, holding down the mouse button, drag the design onto the layout. Before you drop the design, be sure that the upper left corner of the selected design is within the block space that you want to fill. Release the mouse button and the design will drop into this space.
If you specified a block size on the Layer 1 Layout tab, the design will be set in this size on the quilt. If you are on Layer 1 (Custom Set), Layer 2 (applique), or Layer 3 (stencils and embroidery), the design will set in the size in which it was drawn. You can change the size easily on the layout with the Adjust tool. You can also specify that designs on layers be set in a particular size that you choose. See QUILT > Quilt Worktable Options > Setting Blocks > Drag and Drop Options.
You can use the CTRL+click and ALT+click key combinations to set a design in all spaces or in alternate spaces, respectively.
To color designs on the Quilt worktable using the drag and drop method, click the appropriate color tool: Paintbrush, Spraycan, or Swap All Colors. Select a fabric in the Sketchbook Fabrics & Colors palette on the Quilt worktable and, holding down the mouse button, drag the fabric over a patch in the layout. Before you drop the fabric in the patch, be sure that the upper left corner of the selected fabric is within the patch you want to color. Release the mouse button and the patch will color with the selected fabric.
You can use the CTRL+click and ALT+click key combinations to drag and drop when coloring with the Paintbrush and Spraycan tools.
The Edit menu in PatchDraw gives you options for editing curves, lines or nodes.
This menu is available ONLY when an object is selected with the Shape tool.
There are three ways to open the Edit menu after you have selected an object with the Shape tool:
1. Click BLOCK > Edit.

2. Right click on the worktable and then click Edit in the PatchDraw Block Worktable tools.
3. Click the small red square in the lower right corner of the Shape tool.
The Edit Arc and Edit Node menus are in the same box. The options that are available in it are dependent upon the type of object that you have selected for editing.

Edit Arc menu & Edit Node Menu
The current style of the selected node will be grayed out on the Edit Node menu. If all of the options are grayed out, be sure that an object is selected on the worktable.
Options when editing curves and lines
ADD places a node in the center of the selected curve or line. With each click on Add, another node is placed halfway between the end node and the previously added node. You can also double click on a curve or line segment to add a node. Double click on a node to delete it.
TO LINE changes the selected curve to a line. A line does not have handles, but you can edit its length and position.
TO CURVE changes the selected line to a curve with handles so that you can reshape and adjust it.
Options when editing nodes on curves
DELETE removes a node and changes the shape of the patch. There must be at least three nodes in a patch in order for you to be able to delete a node.
BREAK separates joined nodes.
JOIN joins two nodes together. There must be at least two arcs and two nodes in a patch to make this option available. Select one node and then hold down the Shift key as you select the second node. Click Join.
When you are editing a node on a curve or joining nodes on a curve, you have the option to select the type of node style that joins the curves. The node style determines the movement of the handles in relation to the nodes. This, in turn, gives you the flexibility to create the shape you want.
Node styles are available only for nodes that connect curves. They are not available for nodes that connect lines to curves.
Node style options when editing nodes on curves
CORNER joins nodes at an angle. Node handles are independent and can be set at any angle to each other. This is the default node style when drawing your own shapes.
CUSP forms a sharp point at the node. The handles overlap and are inseparable. The handle lengths can be different, making the curvature different on either side of the node.
SMOOTH creates a curve with handles that remain level with each other. This ensures that the node is always smooth. The handle lengths can be different, making the curvature different on either side of the node.
SYMM forms a symmetrical curve on either side of the node. The handles are always the same length on both sides of the curve, making the curvature the same on either side of the node.
Options when editing nodes on lines or nodes that join lines and curves
DELETE removes a node and changes the shape of the patch. There must be at least three nodes in a patch in order for you to be able to delete a node.
BREAK separates joined nodes.
JOIN joins two nodes together. There must be at least two arcs and two nodes in a patch to make this option available. Select one node and then hold down the Shift key as you select the second node. Click Join.
CORNER joins nodes at an angle. This is the only node style available when joining a curve and a line.
Additional Notes
You can use the Precision Bar to edit curves, lines and nodes. Select the object, then click on the appropriate tool in the Edit Object Precision Bar. See HELP > Index > Precision Bars > Display > Precision Bars - Applique Layer > Display > scroll to Shape tool.
![]()
You can change the style of only one node at a time.
To check that a patch is closed, click the Shape tool and place your cursor over a node in the patch, without clicking. A message will appear that will tell you what type of node is selected, if the patch is closed, and how many segments comprise the patch.

See the EQ7 Help file for illustrated information about editing in PatchDraw: Click HELP > Contents > Drawing Blocks > Applique Blocks Using PatchDraw > Shaping and Editing.
To erase all designs on all layers in a quilt on the worktable, click QUILT > Erase Quilt or right click to open the Quilt Worktable tools > Erase Quilt.

With the block or quilt you want to send on the work table, click FILE >
Export Image. The Export Image dialog box will open. Navigate to
the directory in which you want to store the image. Usually, this will
be the folder My Pictures or you can create a subfolder in that folder.
There are two little windows under the big window showing all the files.
In FILE NAME, type in the name of your exported image, including your name in
the image name, for example: jan_sampler1. Use only letters and numbers,
no symbols. Use an underscore as a space holder between words. In
the second window, you get to choose what kind of file it will be. Click
the arrow next to Save As Type and the list will expand so you can see your
file type options. Select JPEG Files and click Save.
The Export Image File of Block will open. Set the Width and Height to
2.00. You must set the size every time you export an image for QU.
Leave the resolution at 150 dots per inch. Set the JPEG quality to 50
and click OK. The window will close.
You can repeat this procedure for each block you wish to send to Quilt U.
When you have saved them all, go into your email program, open an email addressed
to dean at quiltuniversity.com (see clickable link in your classroom on the
welcome page) and use the INSERT (or paper clip icon) to add the individual
pictures to the email. You can usually add as many as you like.
Set your email to PLAIN TEXT to be sure they attach, rather than imbed in the
message.
1. Place the previously colored block on the drawing worktable and click the Color tab.
2. Click the Eyedropper tool.
3. Click the patch that is colored with the fabric you want to locate in the palette. The selected fabric will appear in the Sketchbook Fabrics and Colors palette sample window.
4. Open the Sketchbook that contains the next design you wish to color with this fabric. Click the design to select it, then click Edit to place it on the worktable. Click the Color tab. The selected fabric swatch from the previously colored design will still be framed in the Sketchbook Fabrics and Colors palette sample window.
5. Click the Paintbrush tool and click to color patches with the selected fabric. Add to Sketchbook.
To find more than one color: Retrieve the original design again and use the Eyedropper to find the next color. Retrieve the partially colored second design. Click the Paintbrush and color patches with the selected swatch. Save your design after recoloring. You can delete the partial colorings when you are finished.
By default, the Eyedropper will revert automatically to the last used color tool after identifying a fabric. Go to QUILT > Quilt Worktable Options > Tool Options > Snap Settings > Eyedropper Snapping > uncheck Eyedropper Automatically Snaps Back to the Last Used Color Tool > OK.
You can also sort fabric swatches in the palette so that your favorites are easily accessible. See Sorting in this EQ7 Glossary for instructions.
The Eyedropper tool has extended functions on the Graph Pad of the Quilt worktable. Use it to find:
a previously used fabric or color. This finds the exact match in the palette
for the selected fabric or solid color. It displays only black for photos.
a matching fabric. This finds the exact match for a fabric, but an average
color fabric match for a solid or photo.
a matching color. This finds the exact match for a solid color, but an
average solid color match for a fabric or photo.
a particular coloring of a design in the layout. This finds the specific
design and coloring in the Sketchbook Blocks palette.
The last Eyedropper button on the Graph Pad allows you to:
EQ7 does not know how you plan to use a design, so it will store each design based on the worktable that was used to create it.
If
you change a stencil drawing and save it, this design will not save on the Stencils
tab. Coloring a stencil does not change its storage designation.
You can easily move or copy a design from one tab to another: On the Quilt worktable, click the Set Block tool. In the Sketchbook Blocks palette, click the tab that contains the design that you want to move or copy to another tab. Click the design to select it.
Right click on the Blocks palette and the Blocks, Motifs and Stencils Palette Context Menu will open. Click Move to Tab or Copy to Tab in the extended menu. The design will now be stored on the tab that you selected.
To move a palette, click the top bar so that it is active (blue). Hold down the mouse button as you click and drag the palette in any direction.

Move a palette (l) and resize a palette (right)
To resize a palette, position your cursor over any edge of the palette box, without clicking. Your cursor will change to a two-headed arrow. Click and drag to shrink or enlarge the palette.
The Pick tool is the first button in the EasyDraw and PatchDraw toolbars.
On the EasyDraw worktable and Applique tab of the PatchDraw worktables, the Pick tool selects and highlights an object for further action. The Pick tool also functions as a layering tool on the Color tab of the PatchDraw worktable.
There are four ways to pick (or select) an object or group of objects on the EasyDraw and PatchDraw worktables. With the Pick tool engaged:
A. Place the tip of the arrow cursor directly on a line, arc or patch outline and click to select it. The selected object will be surrounded by eight small squares. You can click and drag these squares to resize the design. Click and drag the four way arrow in the center of the object to move it.
If
you cannot select an object easily, use the Zoom In tool to magnify the area.
